Cooling Memory Foam Mattresses
We chose 10-inch cooling memory foam mattresses because a retreat bed shouldn’t just be a place to collapse at the end of the night, it should actually help you recharge for another full day of creating.
When choosing mattresses for Outcrop, we considered thinner 8-inch options but ultimately decided to go with 10 inches to provide a little more cushioning and support. With guests of different heights, weights, sleeping positions, and comfort preferences sharing our home, we wanted the additional foam depth and a more substantial mattress feel.
The mattresses use layers of memory foam that respond to your body’s weight and warmth, gently contouring around pressure points while providing support underneath. They’re also designed with a thermally balanced, breathable foam core to help manage heat and airflow while you sleep.
The goal was simple: a mattress that feels substantial and comfortable, provides pressure relief and support, and doesn’t have that thin “temporary bed” feeling you sometimes find in vacation properties.
Because after 14 hours of scrapbooking, quilting, laughing, eating, and telling yourself “I’m just going to finish this one last thing,” your bed has a pretty important job to do.
The Rooms at Outcrop
Outcrop Manor is an eight-bedroom home designed around comfort, calm, creativity, and feeling like you belong here.
And, like everything at Outcrop, the bedrooms are still evolving.
What you see today is our first iteration, the beginning of what we envision these spaces becoming. We’re learning from every group that stays with us, figuring out what makes a retreat more comfortable, and continuing to improve each room along the way. Our goal is to keep them feeling a little retreat-like, a little country, and a whole lot like home.
Throughout the house, you’ll find a mix of three single-occupancy rooms, two double-occupancy rooms, and three triple-occupancy rooms, giving groups plenty of flexibility when assigning bedrooms.
Our beds currently include a combination of twin and full-size memory foam mattresses. As we’ve lived in the house and watched groups use the rooms, we’ve realized we have more space than we originally thought, so one of our future projects is transitioning more of the twin beds to full-size beds while still keeping the bedrooms spacious and comfortable.
Every bed has a 10-inch cooling memory foam mattress, microfiber sheets, and either a quilt or down-style comforter. Full beds have four pillows and twin beds have two. We want you to crawl into bed after a very long day of creating and actually be comfortable.
Comfort also means being able to sleep at your temperature. All bedrooms have fans or ceiling fans, five bedrooms have individual mini-split cooling systems, and the home is heated through radiant-floor heat.
We’ve also tried to think about the little practical things. Nightstands have access to power for phones, watches, CPAP machines, or whatever else you need charging overnight, and rooms include luggage racks or dedicated spaces to keep suitcases and belongings easily accessible.
Two bedrooms on the main level, a double and a triple, do not have traditional closets, so we’ve provided alternative space for belongings.
Most importantly, these rooms aren’t “finished” in our minds. Outcrop itself is a journey. We’ll keep adding, changing, upgrading, decorating, and learning as we go. Each room will continue developing its own personality within the country feel of the house.
We hope when you stay here, it doesn’t simply feel like the room you were assigned.
We hope it feels like your room at Outcrop for the weekend.
One-Woman Rodeo
One room. One woman. All yours.
Our three single-occupancy rooms are for the woman who loves being part of the group but also loves shutting her door at the end of the night and having a space completely to herself.
Each One Woman Rodeo room has its own personality and its own unique features, different views, layouts, furniture, and little touches that make no two quite the same. What they all share is a comfortable bed, room to settle in, and the luxury of knowing that for the weekend, this space is entirely yours.
Be part of everything happening at Outcrop, then close the door and enjoy having a little piece of it all to yourself.
Double Shot of Whiskey
Double Occupancy
There’s something really nice about a room for two. You’re not tucked into a room full of people, but you’re not completely on your own either. It’s a little quieter, a little more personal, and still gives you plenty of space that feels like yours.
Outcrop has two large double rooms, each with two full-size beds, so you have a real bed to yourself and room to settle in for the weekend.
And each room gives you a completely different side of Outcrop. One faces east, where you can wake to the morning light and watch the Colorado sunrise. The other faces west, where the day ends with those big country sunsets we’ve fallen completely in love with.
Close the door, kick off your boots, crawl into your own bed, and settle in.
Just two people, two big beds, and a little corner of Outcrop to call home for the weekend.
Three Sheets to the Wind
Triple Occupancy
This is the grown-up sleepover room.
Our three triple rooms are some of the biggest bedrooms at Outcrop, with plenty of space for three women to settle in, spread out, and each have a comfortable bed of her own. Two rooms have two full-size beds and one twin, while the third has three twin beds.
But we think the best part of these rooms happens at the end of the night.
It’s crawling into bed after a full day together and realizing nobody is quite ready to go to sleep. It’s catching up in the dark, telling the story you forgot to finish downstairs, laughing from across the room, and someone inevitably saying, “Okay, seriously, we have to go to sleep,” only to start another conversation five minutes later.
It’s a little nostalgic—a grown-up version of the sleepovers we used to have, only now we appreciate a comfortable mattress and a good night’s sleep a whole lot more.
Some of the best memories at Outcrop might just happen after the lights go out.
